Biography

Alexandra Araujo played for the Brazilian national team before she obtained Italian citizenship. She first played for the Azzurri in 1996, and has since won every major international tournament. At the Athens Olympics, she scored two goals en route to the gold medal, and in 1998 and 2001 she won the World Championships (finishing second in 2003). She also became European Champion in 1997, 1999 and 2003, and was runner-up 2001.
