Biography

Roland Bezamat’s cycling career was at its peak in the early-to-mid 1950s, and he first represented France internationally as an amateur at the 1951 Ronde van Zweden. His biggest moment came at the 1952 Helsinki Olympics, where he won a bronze medal alongside Jacques Anquetil, Alfred Tonello, and Claude Rouer despite not completing the race as an individual. Bezamat turned professional the following year and placed 15th overall in the 1954 Tour of Britain. In 1955 he competed in the Tour de l’Oise (later the Tour de Picardie), before retiring from active competition. In his youth, he studied at the Lycée français de New York.
