Biography

Fritz Ganz had a brief career as a cyclist. His brother, Hermann Ganz, achieved more success, winning the Swiss Sprint Championship in 1938 and 1940 and placing second in that event in 1939, 1942, and 1946. Although Fritz Ganz’s cycling career was short, he achieved much in his hometown of Embrach, in the very northern border of Switzerland. He was an electrician who served on the boards of the EWZ and NOK electrical unions. He became a politician in the town, serving as mayor of the town, 16 years as chairman of the Embrach Primary School, chairman of the Retirement Home Commission, as a board member of KZU, a member of the Zürich State Council, chairman of the State National Council, and as a member of the National Council of Switzerland.
