Biography

Sydney Jacob played frequently in England, competing at Wimbledon eight times (1914, 1921, 1923-28). He made the singles quarter-finals in 1925 and the doubles semi-finals in 1921. Jacob also played at Queen’s Club in 1907, 1910, and 1914 and in the South of England Championships in 1907 and 1910. In his only appearance at Roland Garros, Jacob lost in the semi-finals to René Lacoste. Jacob played in six ties for India at the Davis Cup between 1921-25, winning 7 matches and losing 4.
