Biography

Lisa Hansen rowed for U Cal Berkeley, graduating in 1978, and later rowed for the Long Beach Rowing Association. In addition to her Olympic appearance, Hansen competed at six World Championships (1974-75, 1977-79, 1983), winning bronze medals in double sculls in 1977-78 alongside Liz Hills. Hansen married and became Lisa Stone. She became assistant rowing coach at Radcliffe (Harvard) from 1980-83 and was then head coach from 1983-86, when she was succeeded by Hills, by then Liz O’Leary. Hansen-Stone then became head rowing coach at the Winsor School in Boston. Her daughter, Gevvie Stone, rowed for her at Winsor and competed for the US at the 2012 Olympics in single sculls.
