Biography

Raoul Rodriguez was born to a Cuban-born refugee who taught his children to row at an early age. However, Raoul, Jr. was also a top football player and played offensive guard for Tulane University. He took up rowing again near the end of his college career, and competed for the United States at the 1988 Olympics, the 1986-87 and 1989 World Championships, the 1990 Goodwill Games, and 1991 Pan American Games. Rodriguez won silver medals in the four at the 1988 Olympics, 1989 Worlds, and 1991 Pan Ams, adding silver in the eight at the 1990 Goodwill Games.

Rodriguez later earned an MBA degree from Tulane. He then worked as a stock options and futures trader, in Chicago, London, and New York. In the mid-2000s he also returned to masters rowing, sometimes competing in mixed events alongside his wife, Meg.
