Biography

West German swimmer Karin Seick won three medals at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics. She won bronze in the 100 metres butterfly and in the 4x100 metres freestyle relay, and also won a silver medal with the 4x100 medley relay. Four years later at Seoul, she came seventh with the 4x100 freestyle relay.

In 1991, Seick won another silver medal with the freestyle relay at the World Championships. She was even more successful at European Championships, winning two silver and six bronze medals. Nationally, she won 18 titles over 100 metres freestyle and 100 metres butterfly. Seick later participated frequently in senior masters swimming events. By profession, she became a graduated swimming coach.
