Biography

Ivo Pavelić was a top all-around athlete, competing for Yugoslavia in swimming, football (soccer), and tennis. He graduated from the University of Zagreb, receiving a doctorate in law, and later practiced law in Zagreb, becoming fluent in five languages along the way. He moved to Switzerland during World War II where he met his wife and they moved to the United States in 1946. With his brother, he set up an import/export company, Pavimpex Co., trading in New York in lead and copper. He later moved to Greenwich, where continued to import and export specialty gift items from Italy and Austria.
