Albert Weil was born to an engineer of a tobacco company. He graduated from the École des hautes études commerciales in Paris and went on to work as an administrator of companies. A member of the Yachting Club de France, Weil was the owner of several yachts that were built in 1914 in Le Havre. He was a reserve lieutenant-colonel and appointed a Chevalier of the Legion of Honor.
