Biography

Arthur Wood won his Olympic gold medal in 1908 as a crew member aboard Blair Cochrane’s Hera in the 8-metre class. Wood was educated at Eton and succeeded his father, the first Baronet, in 1920. He served in the Northumberland Artillery and was Sheriff of County Durham in 1933. He died in Scotland while on holiday from his home at Chester-le-Street.
