Biography

Jeanine Toulouse demonstrated an aptitude for athletics at an early age, winning her first French national championship in the 60 metres in 1939, the same year that she also finished fourth in the long jump. This was the first of her 10 national athletics titles: three in the 60 metres (1939, 1946, and 1949), four in the 100 metres (1941, 1942, 1945, and 1949), and three in the 200 metres (1941, 1942, and 1945). She was also runner-up in the 100 metres in 1943, 1947, and 1948, in the 200 metres in 1943, and the 80 metres hurdles in 1947 and 1948, and was the national triathlon champion in 1940. Her international career spanned a decade between 1939 and 1949, but World War II limited her most notable competition to the 1948 London Olympics. There, she was eliminated in round one of the 4x100 metres relay (alongside Rosine Faugouin, Liliane Sprécher, and Jeanine Moussier) and the semi-finals of the 80 metres hurdles.

Personal Bests: 100 – 12.0 (1949); 80H – 12.0 (1948).
