Biography

Ennio Maffiolini was an athlete with Società Ginnastica Gallaratese. In 1921 and 1924 in Bologna, Ennio Maffiolini became Italian champion in the 4×400 relay, without ever managing to win an individual title over the 400 metres.

In 1924 Maffiolini competed at the Paris Olympics, but was eliminated in the 400 in the heats, although his Italian 4x400 relay team reached the final, finishing sixth. In an event dominated in those years by Ettore Tavernari and Alfredo Gargiullo, Maffiolini recorded his personal best on 21 September 1924 with 51.2 in Bologna in a race won by Gargiullo.

Stepping back from competition at the end of the 1920s, he led the Gallarate section of the Italian Association of Football Referees for four years (1932-36).

Personal Best: 400 – 51.2 (1924).
