Biography

Mainly an 800 m runner, Robert Ouko won most of his international medals in the 4x400 m relay. He was a member of the Kenyan 4x400 relay team that won Olympic gold in 1972, Commonwealth Games gold in 1970, and East and Central African championships golds in 1969-72. Ouko also won an 800 metre gold at the 1970 Commonwealth Games and was a member of the Kenyan 4x880 yds relay team that set a world record of 7:11.6 in September 1970. After finishing his sporting career, Ouko worked as a secretary general of the Kenyan Amateur Athletic Association, now named Athletics Kenya.

Personal Bests: 400 – 46.2 (1970); 800 – 1:46.0 (1972).
