Biography

Schowonda Williams ran the 400 metre hurdles at the 1988 Seoul Olympics. She made the team by winning the US Olympic Trials. Williams was also TAC Champion in 1988. She competed internationally at the 1987 World Championships, placing seventh in the final, and the 1991 Pan American Games, finishing fifth. Williams ran in college for LSU, finishing third in the 400H at the 1985 NCAA Meet and fourth in 1987. She was ranked in the world top 10 three times (1987, 1989-90) and in the US top 10 eight times, with high rankings of #2 in 1987 and 1989, and #3 in 1986, 1988, and 1990. Williams was inducted into the LSU Athletic Hall of Fame in 1998.
