Biography

Nordic skier Herbert Leupold finished sixth with the 4x10 km relay, and fifth in the military ski patrol demonstration event at the 1936 Olympics. At the 1934 Nordic Ski World Championships he won a silver medal in the relay a year earlier, the relay team were fourth. Leupold was the German 50 km cross country skiing champion in 1936-37 and 1939. He died in a military hospital near Navaginskaya in Russia from war wounds received during World War II.
