Biography

Josh Wolff was a soccer (football) striker who played for the US National Team from 1999-2008, including at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. Wolff won a bronze medal at the 1997 World University Games, playing on the U-20 National Team. In his international senior career, he earned 52 caps and scored nine goals, helping the USA win the CONCACAF Gold Cup in 2002 and 2005.

Wolff attended the University of South Carolina, although he left after his junior year to play Major League Soccer (MLS). He was assigned to the Chicago Fire and played with them from 1998-2002, helping them win the MLS Cup in 1998 and the US Open Cup in 1998 and 2000. He then played with the Kansas City Wizards from 2003-06 and 2008-10, while in 2007-08 he was overseas with 1860 München. With the Wizards he won the US Open Cup in 2004. He finished his MLS career with DC United in 2011-12.

After his playing career ended Wolff immediately went into coaching, serving as an assistant with DC United in 2012-13. From 2014-18 he was an assistant with the Columbus Crew SC, while in 2019 he served on the US National Team coaching staff. In 2021 he became head coach of Austin FC. Wolff had two sons who played professional soccer in MLS, Tyler with Atlanta United, and Owen, who played for his Dad at Austin FC.
