Biography

Three-time Olympic artist Konstantīns Visotskis was a Latvian painter, graphic artist and illustrator. He was a family member of a well-known musician family of Latvian origin living in Moskva. Visotskis studied in Moskva and became well-known for his historical and animal paintings. He was also recognized for his natural landscape portraits of all seasons. Moreover, Visotskis produced illustrations for magazines and works of classical Russian writers. After the October Revolution in Russia, he went to Rīga and often exhibited in his native country together with Russian artists.

Two pictures by Visotskis are included in the catalogs of 1928 and 1932 and thus clearly identified: Fox Hunt and Wolves Hunt with Borzois. Two other paintings may belong to a total of seven submitted in 1932: Bear Hunt from 1920 (oil on cardboard, 17,8 x 27,7 cm), as well as a similar one with the title - translated from the Russian - Amusement in ancient times (bear hunting in the manner of the Zyryan and Olkhak people) (oil on canvas, 86.2 x 114.6 cm), probably painted in the 1920s. The latter could also correspond to the painting Hunting in old times, entered in 1928.
