Olympic Diplomas

Diplomas are given to the first eight finishers of all events at an Olympic Games or Olympic Winter Games, although prior to 1964 they were awarded only to the top six finishers. In early Olympic editions, in some team events (notably yachting), not all team members received medals, but only diplomas. It is not well known that the first three finishers currently receive, in addition to their medals, diplomas. In team events, the members of the first eight teams also all receive diplomas.
