Legal Affairs Commission ()

The Legal Affairs Commission was formed during the Presidency of Thomas Bach by combining two previous commissions, the Juridical Commission and the Sport and Law Commission, both of which were made defunct.

The Juridical Commission was originally called the Legal Commission. It was formed in 1974 with Marc Hodler as the original chair, and a later chair was Thomas Bach.

The Sport and Law Commission was formed in 1996 with Judge Kéba Mbaye as its first chair, although Thomas Bach again became a later chair. The commission was disbanded in the early 2010s and its functions subsumed with the Legal Affairs Commission.

The Legal Affairs Commission advises the IOC Session, the IOC Executive Board, and the IOC President on juridical issues, with both a consultative and operational role. The chair as of 2022 is John Coates. The responsibilities of the Legal Affairs Commission are to:
