Gerhard Unterluggauer was an Austrian ice hockey defence participating in the 1998 Nagano, 2002 Salt Lake City, and 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics. The Austrian teams finished 14th, 12th and tenth, respectively. In total, he won 211 international caps and scored 79 points (37 goals and 42 assists).
At club level, Unterluggauer played with Villacher SV (1993-95), Brandon Wheat Kings in Canada (1995-97), Villach again (1997-2001), in Germany with Schwenninger Wild Wings (2001-02) and Düsseldorfer EG Metro Stars (2002-04), back in Austria with HC Innsbruck (2004-09), and Villach again (2009-16). He helped Villach to become Austrian champions in 1993 and 1999.
Unterluggauer turned to coaching after his active career. He worked with Heilbronner Falken (Germany), Villacher SV, and Starbulls Rosenheim U20 (Germany).
