Biography

Henk Temming played almost his entire career for DOS (later merged into FC Utrecht), débuting in the first team at age 16. After being held prisoner during part of the War, Temming opened a sports store that he owned through 2005. He turned professional when the Dutch football federation allowed this in 1954, and was one of the key members of the team that won the 1958 championship, beating SC Enschede in overtime in the decisive play-off match. Temming was frequently selected for the national team - including for the 1948 Olympics - but never actually played a match. Temming ended his career in 1962, having played his final season for Velox. Temming’s son, Henk junior was a promising youth player, but elected a musical career, both as a performer (Het Goede Doel) and a producer. Henk senior’s cousin Mosje was also a professional footballer, playing for DOS until the 1958 championship and then joining Feyenoord Rotterdam.
