Inside-forward Johnnie Lea was one of the five non-travelling Irish Free State (now the Republic of Ireland) reserves for the 1924 Paris Olympics. He was a member of the Shelbourne squad, winners of the Irish Free State (now the Football Association of Ireland) League for the first time in 1925/26. Lea later played for, and captained, the 17th Dublin Old Boys FC.
