Biography

Maren Valenti was a German ice hockey forward who finished sixth in 2002 at the Salt Lake City Winter Olympics. She took part in five World Championships and won 51 international caps, scoring 18 goals and 17 assists. In 1990, she was inducted into the International Hockey Hall of Fame, and was inducted into the German Ice Hockey Hall of Fame in 2009.

At club level, Valenti played with Mannheimer ERC (until 1996, and then 1997-98, 1999-2000 and 2001-03). In between she played with ESG Esslingen (1996-97), EHC Freiburg (1998-99), Panthères de Sainte-Julie Québec in Canada (2000-01), and later OSC Berlin (2003-04), and TV Lady Kodiaks Kornwestheim (2004-06). Valenti won the German national title in 1990, 1992, and 2000 (with Mannheim), 1997 (with Esslingen), and 1999 (with Freiburg). Valenti turned to coaching after her active career and became a prominent pop art artist in Germany. In 1998, she was the first women to play in a Bundesliga men’s team with Eisbären Berlin.
