Biography

Héctor Cardona was a boxing referee at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics. He had practiced baseball and athletics as a boy but later became a leading figure in Puerto Rican sports administration. He became President of the Puerto Rican Boxing Federation and was later vice-president of the Association Internationale de Boxe Amateur (AIBA). Cardona started as secretary-general but later served as President of the Puerto Rican Olympic Committee from 1991-2008. He was President of the Organización Deportiva Centroamericana y del Caribe from 2004-17.
