Staffan Söderlund was a part of the sport of bandy in Sweden for his entire life. In the 1970s Söderlund was the chairman of Brobergs IF before serving as the general secretary of the Federation of International Bandy (FIB) from 1981 to 1989. This overlapped with his time as chair of the Swedish Bandy Association (1988–97), with Söderlund then serving as the President of the FIB from 1993 until 1997. For his contributions to the sport he was made an honorary chair of the Swedish Bandy Association, as well as being inducted into the FIB Hall of Fame.
