Hirotsugu Inanami, from the Toyama prefecture, was a Cavalry Lieutenant when he participated in the equestrian jumping event of the 1936 Berlin Olympics. Later he was stationed with the 79th Cavalry Regiment in Korea. After World War II, Inanami became a businessman and was the founder of the Japan-Indonesia Economic Cooperation Business Association. His son became a well-known orthopedist but also an excellent rider.
