Biography

Uli Kirchhoff started his education at the age of 16 as a fully qualified groom at the stud farm of well-known rider Alwin Schockemöhle. Three years later he moved to the stud farm Damhus where he was responsible for 12 show jumper horses. He also worked for Franke Sloothaak in the 1980s. From 1994 he had the chance to ride Jus de Pommes. He celebrated his greatest success at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics when he won two gold medals in the individual and the team event in show jumping with this horse, but Jus de Pommes tragically died only two weeks after the Games.

Through 2004 he did not take part in any competition, but then rode Carino and Caruso and had several wins through 2010, including the 2004 Grand Prix of Stuttgart, the 2004 Prix de Nations of Barcelona, the 2005 Prix de Nations of Hickstead and Dublin, the 2006 Prix de Nations of Dublin, and the 2010 Grand Prix of Augusta. In 2016, Kirchhoff then participated at the Rio de Janeiro Games representing Ukraine after billionaire Oleksander Onishchenko had payed him significant financial expenses.
