Lars Petersen

Equestrian Lars Petersen began riding horses as a child, spending time in both his native Denmark and in the United States. By the mid-1990s Petersen had reached number two in the world rankings and was selected to ride for Denmark at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. At the Games he rode Uffe Korshøjgaard in the individual event, where he had three consistent rounds to place 12th overall. After the Games he won bronze in the team dressage at the European Championships in both 1999 and 2001, along with silver in the individual dressage at the 2002 Dressage World Cup.

By 2014 Petersen was still representing Denmark, but focused on more competitive equestrian events in the United States. Two years later he became a US citizen, competing under the American flag a year later.
