Biography

Prior to the 1928 Olympics, Ambrogio Beretta had won the Italian amateur road race championship in 1928 as well as the Giro Piccolo di Lombardia in 1927, placing second in that race earlier in 1928. After the Olympics, he had a brief professional career, riding the Giro di Lombardia later in 1928 and finishing fourth. In 1929 he competed at both Milano-Sanremo and the Giro d’Italia. Oddly, no other race results are known for him until 1942, when he finished 29th in a little known race, the Giro di Latium. Beretta had two brothers, Angelo and Cesare, who also competed in the pro peloton for a few years.
