Bernard Bourreau

Bernard Bourreau began his lengthy cycling career by becoming the French junior road cycling champion in 1968. In 1972 Bourreau won the French military road race title and the points standing in the Milk Race in England, and competed in the road race at the München Olympics. One year later he won bronze in the amateur road race at the UCI Road World Championships in Spain.

In 1974 Bourreau turned professional, riding in 11 consecutive editions of the Tour de France. Although he never became the national champion as a senior rider, he remained consistent throughout his career, including finishing fifth in the road race at the 1984 World Championships in his final year before retiring. He later worked as a coach for the French national team.
