Danish cyclist Orla Jørgensen had a very brief career that cumulated in him becoming an Olympic champion. In 1926 Jørgensen became the Nordic champion in the team competition on the track and finished third in the amateur road race at the Danish championships. He began 1928 strongly, winning the Zealand Tour and the Fyen Rundt one-day race. These results earned him a place on the Olympic team for the Amsterdam Games, where he won gold in the combined team event in the road race. Jørgensen did not compete in any further races and was only 43-years-old when he died in June 1947.
