Biography

Walter Riccomi was the 1972 Toscano Champion, and later had a solid seven-year pro career, highlighted by his fifth-place finish at the 1976 Tour de France, only 31 seconds off the podium. He was champion in 1976 at the Camaiore Grand Prix and the Prato Industry and Commerce Grand Prix.

Riccomi rode the Giro d’Italia seven times, finishing it each time, with seventh place finishes in 1975 and 1977. He also competed in the road race World Championships in 1975 and 1977-78. After his competitive days ended, he became a footwear dealer.
