Clive Saney

Coming from a sporting family, Clive Saney played football and cricket whilst at school in Trinidad, but his main passion was cycling. Saney spent many hours riding his bike around the island and became a competitive cyclist in 1967, winning his first long-distance race one year later. He soon earned a place on the national team, riding in races across the Caribbean and in both central and south America. In 1972 he was selected to represent Trinidad and Tobago on both the road and track at the München Olympics, placing 29th in the team time trial on the road, along with 20th in the team pursuit in the velodrome.

Saney continued to represent Trinidad and Tobago until 1977 before forming his own cycling club in the town of Siparia in 1980. He then became a coach working with young cyclists to improve their performances.
