Biography

In 1992, track cyclist Andreas Walzer was on the German pursuit team that won the gold medal at the Barcelona Olympics. With the team he also won the gold medal at the 1991 World Championships. Walzer won two more silver medals with the track and the road pursuit teams. Domestically, he won 11 titles.

Walzer was awarded the Silver Bay Leaf in 1993, Germany’s highest sports award. After his active career he worked as a television commentator and cycling expert with the German TV channel ARD at the Tour de France and the Deutschland-Tour. Thereafter he became manager of several pro cycling teams.
