Biography

Austrian cyclist Helmut Wechselberger participated at the 1984 Los Angeles Summer Olympics. As a road cyclist he finished 15th in the individual road race and 11th with the Austrian 100 km time trial team.

Wechselberger won the Lower Austria Tour in 1980, 1982, and 1985. In 1982 he also won the Wien–Rabenstein–Gresten–Wien race, and in 1984 and 1985 won the Steiermark Tour. In 1983, he won two stages at the Lower Saxony Tour.

In 1987, Wechselberger won the bronze medal with the 100 km time trial time at the World Championships, and the following year won the Tour de Suisse. Professionally, Wechselberger became a bank clerk.
