Biography

German field hockey goalkeeper Birgit Beyer competed in the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, when Germany placed a disappointing sixth, and four years later at Sydney, when the team could only finish seventh. Internationally, Beyer won the 2000 European Indoor Championships, having collected a silver medal at the 1999 Europeans, and bronze in 1995. In total, she played 83 international matches (including two indoor) from 1993-2002.

At club level, she played with HTC Stuttgarter Kickers (1989-93, 1996), Dürkheimer HC (1993-95), Club Raffelberg Duisburg (1995), University of Western Australia Perth (1997), and Kölner THC Stadion Rot-Weiß (1998-2004). By profession, she became a graduated business manager.
