Biography

German field hockey player Eva Hagenbäumer played at two Olympic Games, winning the silver medal in 1992, losing the final against Spain 2-1 after extra time. Therefore, the team and all players were awarded the Silver Bay Leaf, Germany’s highest sports award. Four years later at Atlanta the team placed a disappointing sixth.

Internationally, Hagenbäumer won the silver medal at the 1991 European Championships, and also the bronze medal at the 1995 Europeans. In total, she played 140 international matches (including 10 indoor) from 1989-96. Domestically, Hagenbäumer played with Rüsselsheimer RK, winning four German national titles (1992-93, 1995, 1997), and five indoor ones between 1987 and 1997. By profession, she became a physiotherapist.
