The German field hockey team won the silver medal at the 1936 Berlin Olympics after losing 8-1 to India in the final. Half-back Heinrich Peter played only in the 6-0 win over Denmark in the group stage. He played for HC Heidelberg and between 1930-38 won five international caps.
