During the day Kader Rahman worked for the Bank of America in Hong Kong, while in the evenings and at weekends he played field hockey. Rahman was one of the 17 players eventually selected by the Hong Kong Hockey Association to compete at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics. Like all the other members of the team he had to fund most of the costs to fly and stay in Japan himself. At the Games the Hong Kong team played seven matches, losing six of them and drawing 1–1 with Germany. Later Rahman helped to found inter-hall hockey at the University of Hong Kong and worked closely with the Islamic Union in developing young players.
