Biography

José Almanzor was an archer who competed at the 1972 München Olympics. He also competed at the 1979 Pan American Games where he also coached the Mexican team. Almanzor was the coach and team leader for Mexico for many years at the Olympics, World Championships, Pan American Games, and the Central American and Caribbean Games.

In 1996 Almanzor was inducted into the Mexican Sports Confederation Hall of Fame. He received the Mexican National Sport Award in 2003, and in 2000 was awarded the State Prize of Sports and Sports Merit. He was appointed a permanent member of the Sports Council of the Pan American Shooting Confederation in 1995 and in 1994 he had been appointed an honorary judge of the International Shooting Federation.
