Biography

Char Morett played both lacrosse and hockey (field) at Penn State University, leading the 1978 field hockey team to an undefeated season. Morett played for the 1978 and 1979 US Women’s Lacrosse Association National Champion teams, and was named MVP at the 1979 Championships. She also played for the US lacrosse team in 1978-79. In hockey Morett made the 1980 US Olympic team and played at the 1979 and 1983 World Cups, in addition to her 1984 Olympic silver medal.

After graduation, Morett worked for one year at Penn State as a graduate assistant, helping the hockey team make the AIAW finals, and the lacrosse team to become national champions. In 1980 Morett became an assistant at Old Dominion, leaving in 1984 when she was named head coach for both field hockey and lacrosse at Boston College. In 1987 she returned to her alma mater and coached hockey there for over 28 years (as of 2015). Morett led 22 of her teams to the NCAA Tournament and took them to the national finals in 2002 and 2007. As a coach she has won five Big Ten Championships (1993, 1997-98, 2005, 2008), five Big Ten Tournament titles (1995-98, 2011) and two Atlantic 10 Conference championships (1989-90).
