Michel Filippi studied at the military college of l’Ecole de Saint Cyr, and then became a career military officer, reaching the rank of brigadier general. After his service he became a fencing master teaching at rue Boussy-d’Anglas. Filippi competed at the 1900 Olympics in the masters’ foil event.
