Biography

Harry Bjerke dedicated his life to artistic gymnastics in the United States and judged at the highest level for more than 25 years. From 1977 to the mid-2000s Bjerke served as either a technical director or judge at every USA Championships, Olympic Games, and World Championship trials. This including officiating at the World Gymnastics Championships in 2005, 2006, 2009, and 2010, and the Olympics in 1996, 2000, and 2004, earning the rank of FIG Technical Expert. From 1987 to 1996 he also served as the President of the National Gymnastics Judges Association (NGJA). Bjerke was inducted into multiple Halls of Fame including the NGJA (1991), Ithaca College Athletic (2001), USAG (2005), and Suffolk Sports (2006). In 2001 he was also honoured with the USA Gymnastics’ Spirit of the Flame award.
