Puerto Rican softball coach José Agosto led the women’s national team at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. Despite the team suffering heavy defeats at the Games, including 10–0 loses to both the USA and China, Agosto coached the side to a surprise victory against the eventual silver medallists Australia. He was later inducted into the International Softball Hall of Fame and the Puerto Rican Softball Hall of Fame.
