Biography

As the East German national team won the inter-national qualification matches in 1963 against the West German amateur national team by a 3-0 win in Leipzig and a 2-1 loss in Hannover, the German Olympic team at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics was an East German one. The team won the bronze medal, beating Egypt, 3-1.

All-rounder Peter Rock earned 11 international caps and scored one goal. With the Olympic team he played four matches. From 1961-74 he played with SC Motor Jena, later renamed to FC Carl Zeiss Jena, in 254 Oberliga matches (37 goals), 28 European Cup matches (one goal), and 34 national cup matches (seven goals). He helped his club to win East German national titles in 1963, 1968, and 1970, and also the East German Cup in 1972 and 1974. After his retirement he became Team Director at Jena from 1974-89.
