Biography

Football player Ernst Albrecht was a locksmith, who later owned a lottery agency and a travel agency. At the age of 17, the striker was named to the Fortuna Düsseldorf team, for whom he played before he became an international. On 15 April 1928 Albrecht made his début with the national team, earning his final cap in 1934 in an international against Luxembourg. At the World Cup in the same year in Italy, he was ousted by the München non-Olympian Josef Bergmaier and was only a reserve. Albrecht earned 17 caps, scoring four goals in his career. With Fortuna Düsseldorf, where he played from 1923-44, he was a German Champion in 1933, the only German title ever for the club. In 1936 they reached the final again, but lost the match.
