Max Breunig

Max Breunig was 1912 Baden master champion in the shot put and discus throw. He then became the first major football player in Germany, starring as a center half, captaining the German national team in nine international matches. He won the German Football Championships with the Karlsruher FV in 1910, and in 1911 and 1912 was South German Football Champion. For a long time he held the German football long shot record of 45 metres.

He was severely wounded in World War I, but later worked as a successful trainer, and was national football coach for one game in 1924. He later coached Rheydter Spielverein, TSV München 1860, 1.FC Pforzheim, Karlsruher FV, VfR Mannheim, CfR Köln and Post-SV Würzburg.
