Biography

Between 1982-94, defender Stefano Carobbi played 202 Serie A matches, scoring three goals. Most of his time (1982-89 and 1991-93) was spent at Fiorentina, but he also played for A. C. Milan (1989-91) and US Lecce (1993-94). In his two seasons at Milan, when Silvio Berlusconi was president, Carobbi won the 1990 European Cup, despite playing just one game, against HJK Helsinki in the first round. He was a member of the Milan squad that won both the intercontinental Cup and UEFA Super Cup in 1989 and 1990.

Carobbi was not capped by Italy at full international level, but made seven under-21 appearances, played in two matches at the 1988 Seoul Olympics. He appeared in the 3-2 extra-time defeat by the Soviet Union in the semi-final, and the 3-0 defeat by West Germany in the third place match. After his playing days, he spent time managing, firstly, the Fiorentina youth them, and then the women’s team.
