Biography

In a 13-year career between 1990-2013, Dario Marcolin spent most of his time playing in Serie A with the likes of Cremonese, Lazio, Cagliari, Genoa and Piacenza. He also played 10 games for Blackburn Rovers in the English Premier League (1998-99) and scored just one goal, in the 3-2 defeat by Manchester United at Old Trafford. The most successful part of his career was during his time at Lazio when he won the Italian League in 2000, and the Italian Cup and Super Cup, both in 1998 and 2000. In 1998 he helped them win the European Cup Winners’ Cup and European Super Cup, in 1999.

At international level, Marcolin was never capped at senior level, but represented the Italian under-21 side on 28 occasions, and was a member of the UEFA European Under-21 Championship-winning teams in both 1992 and 1994, when he was team captain. He also played in all four of Italy’s matches at the 1992 Olympic football tournament. After his retirement in 2005. Marcolin, went into coaching with teams like Monza, Modena, Calcio Padova, Calcio Catania and U.S. Avellino.
