Biography

Antonio Càmpolo was a versatile striker, particularly effective as a winger, who was the star of Club Atletico Peñarol, who he led to five Uruguayan titles between 1918 and 1929. With the national team he played 21 games, scoring three goals, and helping win the 1920 Copa America, He did not participate at the 1924 Paris Olympics due to managerial conflicts within the Uruguayan federation, but he made up for it in 1928 by winning a gold medal, the second in a row for Uruguay. Campolo scored one of the three Uruguay goals in the semifinal against Italy.
